The Best Open Source Email & Collaboration Software

Zarafa feature development

The Zarafa feature development is guided by various factors like community request, customer commercial projects and the long term visions of the Zarafa product development board.

For the course of 2011/2012 the following product functionality development is either in progress or being evaluated.

  • Archiver version 1.1, containing enhancements for usage of the archiving product itself regarding management, and the optional functions to deliver incoming email directly to the Archiver store using the dAgent-Archiver. The options for offloading of archive stores to external solutions for long-term storage via interfaces will be evaluated.
  • The offline client update functionality lacks detailed logging for larger implementations, and troubleshooting issues. This is important to support services and this is a focus area.
  • Zarafa will create Debian repository ready packages and has started procedures to be included in the Debian 3rd party repository
  • Enhanced Outlook 2010 support for the Zarafa client is to be extended with conversation view, the hiding of private items and the free busy scheduling overviews when creating meeting requests.
  • WebApp 1.0, the successor of the Zarafa WebAccess for online collaboration is being developed on ExtJS, a highly flexible framework that provides a high level of responsiveness & usability. A high focus of the development is on the excellent structure for integrations and plugins.
  • Z-Push 2.0 with HTML email support for more mobiles, not only iPhones. The newer version will synchronize contacts and appointments in public folders (for iPhones) and will have possibilities to issue a device resync using the Mobile Device Management plug-in of the WebAccess, and in later stages the new WebApp.  Additionally we hope to include ActiveSync protocol version 14 support.
